Kyocera Partners with Fresh Training Concepts on Sun Dental Installation
Lakeport, CA - October 31, 2006 - Kyocera Solar, Inc. announced today that one of its authorized dealers, Fresh Training Concepts and Energy Systems, has completed a 5.27 KW-AC installation atop Sun Dental, the first dentist’s office in Lake County, CA to go solar.
The Sun Dental solar equipment package included 2-MyGen3150's consisting of 18 (x2) Kyocera, KC-175GT, high efficiency, deep blue PV modules; 2-Xantrex GT 3.0 utility interactive inverters (240V); and Unirac Solar Mount Rail Kits were used as the fixed roof support structure. Over the systems' productive lifetime it is expected to offset about 80% of their annual usage with a 6-8 year payback projected based on deferred utility payments.
Daniel Felperin founder and principal of FRESH says he wanted to take advantage of the only available south facing roof area and give it a unique tiered look since it is easily viewed from the street.
"We were able to adapt the two standard MyGen kits to all three roof faces with little extra effort. One MyGen (18 modules) faces west. The second MyGen was divided into thirds (2/3's facing east, 1/3 facing south),“ added Felperin.
Dr. Randolph Sun, owner of the system, is pleased with the turnout and expects that the environmental benefits and financial incentives make this installation well worth the cost.
Since Sun also has a Kyocera PV system on the roof of his house, he felt installing a solar system on his office was a “no brainer”.
“I even drive an electric 2003 Toyota RAV4 EV, a Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) to and from the office, so it only makes sense for me to continue ‘going green’,” added Sun.
“Besides, it gives me a great sense of accomplishment to help people prevent decay along with protecting our environment against global warming through environmental prevention,” he added.
With an estimated yearly power production of about 9,000 kWh, the system is expected to provide the office with enough power to run Dr. Sun’s facility for years to come.
“Kyocera is proud to supply Fresh Training Concepts with MyGen (MyGeneration) Solar Electric Power Systems for this unique application for Sun Dental,” said Dave Metcalf, Kyocera Solar’s Northern California Manager.
“The success of this project is a perfect example of the dedication and team work between Fresh Training Concepts and KSI,” added Metcalf.
