Coastal Pacific Foods Powers Up With Kyocera Modules

07/18/06

Ontario, CA - July 18, 2006 – Kyocera Solar, Inc. announced today that SunEdison, LLC has completed the installation and rebate processing for a 723kW solar electric roof-top installation at Coastal Pacific Foods’ Ontario, CA distribution facility. The installation is owned and operated by GreenLease, Inc., financing partner of SunEdison, under a Power Purchase Agreement that allows Coastal Pacific Foods to purchase solar-generated electricity at or below retail utility rates without the up-front capital investment traditionally associated with the purchase of a PV system.

The 5 acre roof-mounted solar electric system installed at Coastal Pacific Foods includes 4,320 solar panels, including Kyocera KC 190-watt GT modules, mounted on a custom racking system designed to cut down on roof penetrations. Since its installation, this system has consistently produced at maximum capacity, generating well more than $18,000 per month in avoided utility costs; at this rate, the system will offset more than $11,000,000 in utility costs due to the escalating forecast of utility rates during the course of its 25 year warranty.

“Kyocera Solar is excited to support SunEdison with the recently completed PV installation at Coastal Pacific Foods, said Mark Newton,” Southern California Regional Sales Manager with Kyocera Solar, Inc. “This installation is a great demonstration of how a large PV system can be economically viable for a commercial facility.  We applaud Coastal Pacific Foods leadership with this project,” added Newton.
