Kyocera Solar, Inc. Joins Advance Power in Support of 768 Solar Panel Project for California Brewery

08/21/06

Redwood Valley, CA - August 21, 2006 - Kyocera Solar, Inc. announced today that Advance Solar, one of its authorized dealers, has successfully completed a 122 Kilowatt (kW) commercial solar project at Anderson Valley Brewing Company- the largest private photovoltaic solar installation north of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Based in Boonville, CA, the project included a 125 kW SMA inverter and seven hundred sixty eight Kyocera KC-187 modules on the roof of the brewery’s cellar and packaging facility. The system will generate 187 watts per panel and have a combined output of 125,000 watts at 480 volts AC, during the day’s five peak solar hours.

With an estimated 223,000 kW hours of yearly power production, the system is expected to offset nearly 50% of the brewery’s energy needs. Approximately 50% of the system will be paid for through California rebate incentives, allowing the system to pay for itself in less than 5 years. The total cost for the project was estimated at $860,000.

“Advance Power has a long and reputable history in the solar, hydro, and wind power production industry,” said Joe Karp, Technical Sales.

“Even our owners have been living off grid since 1976,” added Leif Chilson, Sales and Customer Support.

In 2004, Advance Power purchased its new 15,000+ sq. ft. warehouse and office building in Calpella, CA. The new building is powered by a solar electric utility interface system consisting of 32 Kyocera KC-190 solar modules with Xantrex 2.5 and SMA 2500U inverters. Advance Power has completed hundreds of residential and commercial solar installations in California since the energy crisis of 2000.
